Abstract : The rapid expansion of Nigeria’s digital economy has intensified exposure to cyber-dependent and cyber-enabled crimes, placing significant pressure on national investigative institutions. This study provides an empirical assessment of forensic readiness within the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Abuja, focusing on technological infrastructure, human resource capacity, procedural compliance, and institutional policy support. Criminal Profiling and Effective Crime Detection: An Assessment of Challenges and Improvement Measures in the NSCDC Kano State Command

Abstract : Effective crime detection within paramilitary security institutions increasingly depends on the extent to which behaviourally-informed investigative tools, such as criminal profiling, are supported by adequate institutional structures. This study therefore examined the challenges affecting the effective use of criminal profiling and the measures required to improve criminal profiling for effective crime detection within the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Kano State Command. Anchored on Rational Choice Theory and Routine Activity Theory, the study adopted a descriptive survey research design. The population comprised 250 operational and investigative personnel of the NSCDC Kano State Command, and since the population was relatively small, the entire population was studied as the sample size, using a multi-stage purposive sampling technique.
